Welcome to the World of WebLogs
11.08.03 (1:06 pm)   [edit]
Hello CI5351,

Welcome to my weblog. I know, I know, some of you were expecting something related to libations Well, grab your favorite one and explore.

What is a Weblog? Pretty much anything you want it to be. But for the purposes of tonight's presentation, I'm going to say that a Weblog is simply a web-based space for writing. They can be thought of as an online journal where all the wriing and editing of the information is managed through a web browser. WebBlogs are very easy to start and can be free or relatively cheap.

In order to make my presentation very user-friendly and collaborative, I would like for you to read and share your thoughts back in the class chat room. I would also like for you to post at least one comment at the end of the web log so it looks like a lot of people are interested in my weblog. :o To do so, simply click on the (view/add) link at the end of the entry and type away.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to reading your comments!

Hello All,

I know that we are a very eclectic group, so I've chosen some various weblogs for you to view and visit. Hopefully there's something here for everyone.

We're going to do this as if we were "chunking" a novel. I would like for everyone to visit at least two below, and bring their comments i.e. "four stars, thumbs up, three mics" and brief (one sentence) summary of what one might find there etc. to the chat room Monday night. Let us know what you find, and perhaps a lively discussion will ensue.

Blogs in Education, for and by Educators

Hello All,

For this last entry, I would like for each of you to visit two final weblogs. The first is a class weblog with individual logs by students. Just take a look at one or two students' blogs:

Class Weblog http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ins...

Then, I would like for you to visit a teacher's weblog from the list below. Pick the subject or category that you think is most interesting.

After you have done so, please think about ways you could use a web log professionally and personally. In the chat room, I would like for us to discuss ways they could be used to enhance our work with students. Also, I know that some of us are in different fields. What ways could they be used in your profession? I'll see you all in the chat room.

Thanks!
